Hi! Paramore is really great. I've listened to one or two of their songs...and, well, the band is excellent! There's a lot of electric guitar in the music, and the female vocalist, the girl with the crazy red hair, she screams a lot. But its really cool. Riot! has a lot of songs with really interesting names in it, like Crushcrushcrush and Misery Business. As you can probably tell, Paramore isn't just the girl, as a lot of people think - its the whole band. But still, I can't help but think of Paramore as just the girl. The four boys, and the girl, Hayley. I have to research what the boys' names and what they play in the songs...
I am so glad that you are enthusiastic about your music! I don't know that I have ever listened to her (Them! Ha, you were right.) Anyways I don't know that I have ever listened to them or heard of them before. What genre are Paramore? I really like my music. I just need to get some more songs of their's.
I've only heard that one Paramore song (I think it was your listening example, C). For some reason, I associate them with the band Evanescence. Do you know Evanescence? Would you say they're similar?
Hannah, I have heard of Evanescence, and I have listened to some of their songs. I don't think that they are quite the same - evanescence seems to have more electric instruments than Paramore in their songs....more guitar, piano. But I can see how you associate them with Evanescence. And Amelia - I looked up the song"Wake Me Up Inside" and they're by a completely different artist! The artist is named The Taxi...maybe they don't stock the song anymore on iTunes?
C, I saw the same thing, the Taxi band thing I mean. I really like Paramore. Also I know we both really like to listen to decode. The only other song I've listened to by them is Misery Business. That's a pretty cool song. It was super popular last year. Do you watch their music videos? I bet they would be really cool. This is just a personal thought, but I really like Haley's, I think her name is, crazy red hair. Do you know how many albums they have?
Actually Switzerlandeo, I haven't seen their music videos. I do know that they have four, though - one for Misery Business, one for Crushcrushcrush and one for That's What You Get, and one for Decode. Misery Business is surprisingly more popular than Decode (not that Misery Business isn't great, either). Paramore has about two albums - and i think they've contributed different songs to other albums like for Twilight. I have to research that more.
Alright...so, Hannah, you asked us to do research about the band, and, so, here it is... The lead vocalist is named Hayley, as I mentioned before - Hayley Williams. She is the only girl in the band. Sometimes she plays the keyboard as well. There's Josh Farro and he plays the guitar, and he does backing vocals (I find this strange, because I have never heard a second voice in the background, only Hayley. And then there's Taylor York (he is rhythm guitar), and Jeremy Davis (he is bass guitar) and, Zac Farro, who is, obviousy, the brother of Josh Farro. He plays the drums.
More research...this part is specifically about their albums, and when they were produced. Also, its more information about the band in general... The band Paramore started in 2004, and made their first album, as I mentioned earlier, All We Know Is Falling, in 2005. And then Riot! came in 2007. Riot! is considered by the best of the two albums by many. I think that Paramore writes their own songs. The band is a bit odd (and so are the band members) and so is their songs, but that definatley doesn't mean that they're excellent! Plus the band (or, at least the girl) is a huge fan of Twilight - that's why they did the songs Decode and I Caught Myself for the Twilight movie.
You don't like Paramore? or do you mean "That definitely doesn't mean they are NOT excellent" I am sorry if you do not like your music. I really like mine, it is one of my favorite bands now. I know Aaron has played the song before, the one "Wake me Up Inside" or whatever it is called. It might just be a Mexican thing or something though. Or it is labeled wrong on the Mexican Youtube. I don't think that American Youtube and Mexican Youtube are different though so maybe this isn't a very legitimate point.
Oh that is strange. It is on YouTube in a bunch of places, but it doens't exist in iTunes. There are two different songs by the same name I guess. Sorry... Here is the link to the youtube one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SrfiFymVQo
This is the one Paola showed me. Wow... I can't believe Mexican students are coming this weekend... (!)
Each of the music pieces involve a lot of electric instruments - guitar especially. Drums are in there a lot as well. I have to say I'm a bit surprised at the song Crushcrushcrush - I would have thought that it was a love song, but its not really. I suppose I thought it'd be a love song because of David Archuleta's song Crush. I can just imagine the music video for the song I Caught Myself - I'm surprised that they haven't made one yet. Speaking of music videos, all of Paramore's music videos are based on her - its always of her singing, or one of her band members playing an instrument. I'm not saying that it isn't nice, but I wish that they would make a music video that didn't just have themselves in it, if you know what I mean. As I have told many people, there is a song called "Pressure" and, as I have told many people, it is also not a good song to listen to because of the lyrics: Can you feel the pressure, its getting closer now...anyways...
I checked Paramore on iTunes, just to see what her most popular song was. Just to see. And to my surprise, it was a song called Misery Business...I've mentioned it, and its fine. When she sings it, it sounds like Hayley has a british accent. And, another surprise, decode is the third most popular, and i caught myself isn't on the artist's most popular songs, either. Pressure is on the list, too. It's, like, the fifth.
There is another one of my favorite songs called Fences. Its a bit odd, but it has a good beat. My favorite part in the song is when its like: Its obvious that you're dying, dying. Just living proof the camera's lying...and open, open wide...this is your life, so, smile, 'cause your go out in style. I can tell you, this isn't a good song to listen to when you're sick.
Hi! I think it's always interesting to see the tunes that are most popular on iTunes, too. Often I'm surprised. Well, you're definitely getting me excited to hear your music, Cadence. What do you usually do while you're listening to Paramore?
Dear Hannah, well, sometimes I listen to Paramore in the background - when I'm reading, doing homework - but usually I just listen to it in general. Sometimes I dance to it, too. I listen to music in the car, but not too often - normally when I do its at night or in the afternoon, never in the morning - I'm listening to the news in the morning, plus eating my breakfast.
Hey I was just wondering or not Paramore had a website - a lot of bands and single artists do. I'm going to check that out right now. I hope they do have a website...
Alrightie...turns out Paramore does. I am not surprised. The website is a little scary, but otherwise cool. Here's the link if anyone wants to look: http://www.paramore.net/ The name is unsurprising too. I like it. The website has a lot of photos - Paramore posts one everyday...and they're kinda creepy and nonsensey, in a way.
Oh! I just found out that Paramore has a new album out...but it has the same songs as Riot! - the most popular songs, I believe. They're recorded in different ways. I don't think its on iTunes yet, otherwise I would've seen it. It's probably really new... Also on the website it tells you when their concerts are going to be, and you can buy the tickets right then and there. Pretty cool. Alright...I see now that they have band info, where they have a bio about each band member. I said that there were five last time, and now there's only four...jeremy, hayley, joshua and zachary...so taylor york must've dropped out. I wonder why.
One time I saw this music video by Paramore and they were all in the woods and stalking each other. They were kind of pretending to vampires. Are they like part vampire because they also wrote that song for Twilight... Yeah. Have you seen any of their other videos?
Yep. Crushcrushcrush, Misery Business, That's What You Get, Pressure, and Emergency. All their videos are of them and sometimes they're pretty creepy. Yes, I've seen the Decode video. That's probably the third or second creepiest of them - the Emergency one is the scariest. Now that's when they're really vampires. There's blood and cuts and pale faces and black clothing. And then for the Pressure one its like of a guy making a milkshake and smashing it into someone's shirt by accident. I just want to tell you that I love their songs, and Hayley's voice, but they are really SCARY!!!!!!
I am listening to We Were Born for This right now, apparently Maricela is a fan of Paramore. I listened to Pressure as well, and Stuck On You. Does the band enjoy references to bloodsucking insects frequently? Ew. Decoy is pretty good, but Crushcrushcrush is my favorite, I think. I already know decode. What does Pressure have to do with milkshakes??? Actually I am guessing that it is better than what the song is actually about, so I am grateful for the milkshake... Hmm.
Two Questions... Amelia are you listening to Paramore for Stretch too? and Are Decoy and Decode the same song? Well whatever the answeres I'm glad you're enjoying your music C.
Yeah. You are right about the music video for Emergency, it creeps me out, and it is TOTALLY copying Twilight. It is interesting how they show them with all these cuts, and then they show them drawing the cuts on with make-up. And Maddy, I am not listening to Paramore for my Stretch, it is just that Maricela has a lot on her iPod and I kind of like it. Also, Cadence's blog is first on the list. I just went through the sixth grade music and listened to a lot of music from each of their Stretches, and then commented about them. I haven't done that with Middle school's blog because 6th grade is pink and this one makes me depressed because it is so dark. I don't know why. I am really picky about colors. And also, I am on my laptop now, and my laptop doesn't have every song ever written and my dad's does, so I can't find everyone's stretches on mine. Sadness. "They taped over your mouth, scribbled out the truth with their lies, your little spies." -crushcrushcrush
okie dokie. yeah. Amelia - I'm pretty sure that they did copy Twilight, because the Emergency music video was made in 2005...and Twilight was produced in stores in 2005. You never know. It could be the other way around - they made Emergency and then Twilight came out, but I sort of doubt it.
Hayley, the girl, reminds me a little bit of the girl in the Ting-Tings. There music isn't as heavy, but what reminds me of them is that there are a bunch of boys in the Ting-Tings, and only one girl - and she's, like, the only singer. Same for Paramore. The Ting-Ting's music sounds more poppy, and jumpy than Paramore. A lot of Paramore's songs doesn't involve happiness. Its sad. :-(
Okay, now I'm really scared of Paramore...in their bios, they include if the band members have tattoos, and their dating history. Hayley puts "not telling" both for dating and tattoos. A bit awkward...plus their pictures that they took don't really help with the whole "weird" situation. No offense. Oh yeah, and it also says their heights...the jeremy person is really tall...he's, like, above six feet.
Six feet? whoa. Haley is the one who has really bright hair right? I would say that maybe Hayley is also Katie White and she doubles as both to become the ultimate idol but then again Katie's hair is white and Hayley's hair looks like she's bleeding. (in a cool way) and Katie has a british accent... and Hayley.... doesn't. So maybe I won't say that Hayley is both. No I won't say that. That was weird.
alrightie...although that was sorta confusing, it did make a little bit of sense. Hayley is the one who has bright hair. You're right, it does look like its bleeding (in a cool way) it also reminds me of fire...kind of.
Oh yes - another reason why the Ting-Tings remind me of Paramore is because they both have interesting names. I think the Ting-Tings' name is because of you know, musical ting-ting. Maybe. I don't know. I can't figure out why Paramore's name is Paramore, though. I looked up paramour in the dictionary, and it means lover. How confusing.
Oh. And I looked up para-nothing. Well, I know its more of something. Is there some type of musical thing called a para? Is there a foreign pastry called para? Is para the nickname of something? Was someone's pet named para and that pet inspired the band? Was para one of the band member's first word? ?????
My guess is that it's a play on the word "paramour", lover. I think the word paramour implies a really special, stand-out lover, like the BEST one, and maybe since they spell the ending "more" it means even more so? BUT, as I found in an online medical dictionary (www.medterms.com): PARA is a prefix with many meanings, including: alongside of, beside, near, resembling, beyond, apart from, and abnormal. Soooo . . . I think you can make up your own meaning for what they're trying to communicate through their name.
Okay, so think about "Para-mount." It means the very top, the biggest, the best... And para-graph is... The best and biggest way to write... ??? He-he... let's go with that... Okay, I tried to do some research on line for "Para" and I came up with the most inappropriate thing that has ever come up in my research before, so I am extremely grossed out... I went to Wikipedia, and the best it could give me was "Para Dog-Faced Bat." I like bats, but I wasn't exactly looking for nocturnal flying rodents... Shakespeare called them reer-mice, did you know? Nevermind. Anyways, Paramedics are the best doctors, the ones who come first, and in Sanskrit it means things like "above" "powerful" and "transcendent." So I am pretty sure "para" is the best, or top-most. And "amour" is love, so Paramour is the best lover I guess. And they are playing with it so that it is "more" rather than "love." That is a really cool name for a band, if you think about it! And also, I read the comments from the bottom up, which is all very well and good I guess... Until you get to the part about Maddy saying "The band member has six feet? Wow!" So without reading the first comment it looks like one of the members of the band has four extra limbs, which is obviously not what you intended. Now I see that he is just abnormally tall. Sorry, I am kind of tired, so I keep misunderstanding things.
hi cadence! it is nina! (sorry if i am not suppose to be blogging on your blog) is paramore the band with 3 guys and 1 girl? do you like their music? i am litening to celtic music!
NINA!!! Yay! How are you? Please feel free to join! This is so exciting! I kept checking your post to see if you had posted more, but you posted HERE. Coooool! And yeah, Paramore (I believe paraMOUR is the word, while ParaMORE is the band, but it could very well be the other way around. Which is it, Cadence? I was going to ask that earlier but I guess I forgot...) So you like Celtic music? Is it all religious like the one you posted the lyrics to on your blog? What are the subjects of the songs about mostly? Are they usually in English?
No I think you might be confused Amelia, Cadence said he was six-feet tall... and I was amazed and said SIX FEET? But he does not actually have six feet... because that would be weird.
Now I'm not understanding things because I thought that you thought that the guy actually had six feet but I see that you understand and I need no further. Bye. (Aw man I went further in my speaking)
Haha... Yeah. I kind of figured that he didn't have six feet. Cadence just meant that he had six TOES on each foot. Silly Maddy, you get so confused with things like this. I mean, what kind of band would it be if NONE of the musicians had extra limbs? Jeez, no one would listen to it. If you have six arms you play drums better, and if you have six fingers on each hand you play guitar better. And if you have six tongues you sing better... Not really. I think if you had six tons you would choke and/or starve to death pretty quickly. They wouldn't fit. They would have to hang out of your mouth, and you would have to pant like a dog. A dog with six tongues, that is... On the bright side, maybe your parents would let you eat nothing but popsicles, lollipops and ice cream, so that is a bonus. What the HECK am I talking about?
SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY... ACK! S-O-R-R-E-E-E-E-E-E!!! MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSICMUSICMUSICMUSIC MUSICMUSICmusicmusicmusicmusicmusicmusicmusicmusic. That looks like mucus. EWW.
I like Paramore. I think that the way the sounds song are awesome. The lyrics are not always the best, but they sound awesome, so it is OK. Me and Maricela were yelling the lyrics in the car, and we were watching the youtube videos together. She really liked "We were born for this."
"Say this with me now. Go: We were born for this! (we were born for this) Everybody sing: like it's the last song you will ever sing! Tell, tell me, do you feel the pressure now? Everybody live: like it's the last day you will ever see! Tell me, tell me can you feel the pressure now?" DO you like that one? I like it. The lyrics are really good, as well as the song. It isn't like "Pressure" which is kind of inappropriate. I feel like feeling under pressure is an APPROPRIATE response to being told you will only sing one more song, and this is the last day you have to live... I believe that you should live like it's your last day to live, because it just might be. Everything you do should be your best, because it just might be the last thing you ever do. Make an impression, change the world, do something important... Love life. I believe that was one of Ghandi's principles: "Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever." That is a really great message. Another cool part of that song is "We don't need the headlines, no we don't need the headlines... We just want the airwaves back!" Because they are musicians, and if they are famous they don't want papers written about them, they just want people to listen to them... If that makes any sense at all.
Hayley does some really weird stuff with her voice. All I know, is that it sounds AWESOMELY TUFF, and it is impossible to replicate. Like this one time she says break like "BRAY -EE- AKE" And it is really beautiful, but I have no idea how she does it. I didn't think it was possible to do that. I want to know how to do stuff like that! It is really, really cool!
Oh my god i just thought you were a stranger. that was a bit scary. Anyways. yeah Hayley does do some weird stuff with her voice, but its cool. No offense to the Paramore band, but they're really, really creepy. There website is extremely creepy with the pictures and the videos and the etc.
Hi Nina! Glad to see you here! Do you like Celtic music?
Paramore's become really popular all because of Twilight. When you get to a popular album, it says listeners also bought: there's circus by britney spears, the new Kelly Clarkson album, and then the twilight album, and then there's riot! Stephenie Meyer really likes the band - I wonder which is her favorite song? i suppose its decode. you know she gets most of her twilight ideas from the songs she listens to? Muse, linkin park...yeah. I think that's pretty cool.
oh - i just looked up paramore on the web, and went to images. Hayley's hair has been a lot of colors - a yellowish blonde and the striking red. Interesting. Her hair really is like fire in the colors. I think she does that on purpose.
Mia wants to dye her hair bright colors too. She says so. She says "That's not fair, I already HAVE dyed my hair bright colors!" True... Mia strives for purple hair, apparently. When I asked the hairstylist at the CVS if they had red hair dye that washed out when you took a shower they gave me this really weird look, and then they were saying "Oh, your hair looks FINE sweetie, you don't have to dye your hair for it to look pretty!" If you have ever been trapped in a CVS store for four straight hours while your father fills a prescription, you will understand that this is just one of the things that must be tolerated. I think that I will go somewhere ELSE to get hair-dye. Maybe I can go today, with Mia. Maybe we can get our hair died like Hayley's, and then yell Paramore songs until we start to weird people out. It is certainly better than acing out Twilight scenes and video taping them. They usually end up with Mia saying "Oh, you are so pretty. Can I EAT you?" And then grabbing people's limbs and pretending to gnaw at them. I ended up LICKING Mia by the end, I was so fed up. She was panting and drooling at this point...
I haven't seen Paramore's website yet, but I am sorry that it is creepy. That is interesting that Stephenie Meyer (John MAYER, Stephenie MEYER: always get those two spellings confused!) get's the ideas for her books from the music she listens to, I didn't know that. It is funny that your music gets it's ideas from Twilight, and Twilight gets it's ideas from music... Maybe Stephenie Meyer actually got the ideas for her books from Paramore, that is actually quite possible. And sorry that you didn't recognize my new name... I was super freaked out the other day because some random Swedish dude posted SWEDISH POETRY on Jon's post on my blog. Also, Jon's post was completely EMPTY, so i was kind of freaked out. Also, there was a lot of thunder and lightning, and it was really dark too... I kind of like a few of Paramore's songs. Like "We Were Born For This," "Decoy" and "crushcrushcrush."
I want to dye my hair bright colors too! Hello... statement! (that wasn't supposed to be rude) C, Do you notice if Paramore's music is ever about a specific topic? Like some songs are all about love... is that what Paramore is like? Also if Paramore was a brand of tape what would it be? I am intrigued... * :? <- he is intrigued too.
um, well, actually, amelia, paramore's songs are about mostly about love - you are right maddy. Also some of the songs are, like, about the pressure or something that are on top of them, on their chest...anyways amelia you already mentioned that its sorta gross, the tick in flesh thing. I try not to listen to that if i can - I have listened to all her songs - i'm doing a sort of rerun.
Yeah. Maricela must not have been choosing her Paramore songs for the lyrics, since she doesn't really understand the lyrics... I guess she just got some of the weird ones. Sorry.
I really liked "Fences" when you played it yesterday, Cadence! You're right that Paramore doesn't sound like Evanescence, tho' they have the gothic vibe thing somewhat in common. Their sound reminds me a bit of Panic! at the Disco, but with female vocals. I'll need to check them out further at some point. Her hair is cool, I agree. ;)
You can't buy super-bright funky hair color @ CVS, but they have it at specialty shops. Do some google searching; I know there are places in the city that have it, but I'm sure there's somewhere on the North Shore, too.
Hi Hannah, Thank you. Fences is one of my favorite songs of Paramore - beside Decode, I Caught Myself, Pressure, Misery Business, That's What You Get, and For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic. I think maybe a store called Boston beauty might have the hair color, Hannah. It's too bad that no one's hair comes out naturally as that bright and funky. That would be super, super cool. I know a song from Panic! At the Disco. It's called Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for snack. Maddy you know this song.
This is for the overall reflection that you assigned today, Hannah. I think Paramore is a wonderful experience. I'm glad I picked the band, even if the band is a bit scary - I certainly could have done without those pictures on the band's web site, but oh well. Paramore's really electrical. They have some kind of fire about them (no, not Hayley's hair) and it shows in their songs.
Oh and here's the assingment for last week (sorry I forgot to post it) about sharing your music with someone else. I shared it with my mom. I played her the songs that I think she would like: Fences, Decode and Pressure. Here are ze opinons: Fences: zippy and soulless. Decode: Is all the music in this album synthesized? Pressure: I like to listen to the music that inspires me or makes me happy, not depressed. I would prefer not to listen to anymore music by this artist. Thank you for the experience.
Okay. So Hannah, you asked us to maybe mention the artists we are interested the next time. I think I'm going to do Debussy. I've listened to Sting, who's music is medium: kinda half rock and half calm. And then there's Paramore, who's music is really poppy and bright. I haven't done real calm, classical music.
oh and how i got into Debussy is from twilight, for people who have the twilight album. Clair De Lune. That's a nice song as well. Did anyone know that that was actually a book? I think it might be in the library. Anyways...yeah. I'm doing Debussy, if no one minds.
Cadence, I loved reading your thoughts on your music! I think Debussy would be a spectacular next-Stretch for you. Do you know impressionistic paintings? Well, Debussy is an impressionistic musician; he was composing at the same time that Monet, etc, was painting. Cool, huh?
That really is cool. Impressionistic music is, like, a movement in European classical music, is that right? I've listened to one of Debussy's songs, and it's called Nocturnes. That means (I don't knnow in what language, though) a romantic or dreamy character of night, or suggestive of night. Interesting. There's another one called the girl with the flaxen hair, but I haven't really listened to it. It sounds interesting, though. Hannah, when does our next stretch project start?
next stretch project is in the fall. I will never again do a stretch project... WOW. I like Panic! at the Disco. It is really such a shame that I Write Sins not Tragedies is inappropriate... I like it. I am doing Tokio Hotel as my current Stretch Project. I love it. Shockingly, I think it is the ONLY German music I own! The German ones are GREAT (though they do swear sometimes), so since I am kind of doing a "stretch" I am downloading the English ones too and getting more used to them.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteParamore is really great.
ReplyDeleteTheir genre is Rock, Pop, Alternative and Soundtrack (remember, Decode and I Caught Myself in twilight). Mostly Alternative, though.
ReplyDeleteI've only heard that one Paramore song (I think it was your listening example, C). For some reason, I associate them with the band Evanescence. Do you know Evanescence? Would you say they're similar?
ReplyDeleteOh my Mexican host sister loves Evinescence! I really like the song "Wake Me Up Inside." And they were the ones who did the Twilight music? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt is great that everyone is blogging so much this time! I am excited. I really do think we should have blogs for every class!
ReplyDeleteHannah,
ReplyDeleteI have heard of Evanescence, and I have listened to some of their songs.
ReplyDeleteActually Switzerlandeo, I haven't seen their music videos.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cadence! Clearly I need to actually listen to Paramore so I change my ideas about them.
ReplyDeletewho is c?
ReplyDeleteMe! Cadence!
ReplyDeleteAlright...so, Hannah, you asked us to do research about the band, and, so, here it is...
ReplyDeleteThe lead vocalist is named Hayley, as I mentioned before - Hayley Williams.
ReplyDeleteThe band Paramore started in 2004, and made their first album, as I mentioned earlier, All We Know Is Falling, in 2005.
ReplyDeleteOh that is strange. It is on YouTube in a bunch of places, but it doens't exist in iTunes. There are two different songs by the same name I guess. Sorry... Here is the link to the youtube one:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SrfiFymVQo
This is the one Paola showed me. Wow... I can't believe Mexican students are coming this weekend... (!)
The song is actually called "Bring Me To Life." Why no one calls it that I do not know... If we have another stretch project I might do Evanescence...
ReplyDeleteNo! I love my music! I just mean just because blah blah blah blah blah doesn't mean that I love them!
ReplyDeleteEach of the music pieces involve a lot of electric instruments - guitar especially. Drums are in there a lot as well.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I'm a bit surprised at the song Crushcrushcrush - I would have thought that it was a love song, but its not really.
ReplyDeleteThere is another one of my favorite songs called Fences.
ReplyDeleteHi! I think it's always interesting to see the tunes that are most popular on iTunes, too. Often I'm surprised. Well, you're definitely getting me excited to hear your music, Cadence. What do you usually do while you're listening to Paramore?
ReplyDeleteDear Hannah,
ReplyDeletewell, sometimes I listen to Paramore in the background - when I'm reading, doing homework - but usually I just listen to it in general.
ReplyDeleteAlrightie...turns out Paramore does. I am not surprised.
ReplyDeleteThe website is a little scary, but otherwise cool. Here's the link if anyone wants to look: http://www.paramore.net/
The name is unsurprising too.
ReplyDeleteAlso on the website it tells you when their concerts are going to be, and you can buy the tickets right then and there. Pretty cool.
Alright...I see now that they have band info, where they have a bio about each band member. I said that there were five last time, and now there's only four...jeremy, hayley, joshua and zachary...so taylor york must've dropped out. I wonder why.
hi, sup
ReplyDeleteOne time I saw this music video by Paramore and they were all in the woods and stalking each other. They were kind of pretending to vampires. Are they like part vampire because they also wrote that song for Twilight... Yeah. Have you seen any of their other videos?
ReplyDeleteYep.
ReplyDeleteI am listening to We Were Born for This right now, apparently Maricela is a fan of Paramore. I listened to Pressure as well, and Stuck On You. Does the band enjoy references to bloodsucking insects frequently? Ew.
ReplyDeleteDecoy is pretty good, but Crushcrushcrush is my favorite, I think.
I already know decode. What does Pressure have to do with milkshakes??? Actually I am guessing that it is better than what the song is actually about, so I am grateful for the milkshake... Hmm.
Two Questions...
ReplyDeleteAmelia are you listening to Paramore for Stretch too?
and Are Decoy and Decode the same song?
Well whatever the answeres I'm glad you're enjoying your music C.
Ok so that whole Decoy-Decode thing was solved at lunch today so we're all good.
ReplyDeleteyep. the decoy song's pretty cool, but i still think that paramore is scary.
ReplyDeleteYeah. You are right about the music video for Emergency, it creeps me out, and it is TOTALLY copying Twilight. It is interesting how they show them with all these cuts, and then they show them drawing the cuts on with make-up.
ReplyDeleteAnd Maddy, I am not listening to Paramore for my Stretch, it is just that Maricela has a lot on her iPod and I kind of like it.
ReplyDeleteHayley, the girl, reminds me a little bit of the girl in the Ting-Tings. Its sad. :-(
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I'm really scared of Paramore...in their bios, they include if the band members have tattoos, and their dating history. Hayley puts "not telling" both for dating and tattoos. A bit awkward...plus their pictures that they took don't really help with the whole "weird" situation. No offense. Oh yeah, and it also says their heights...the jeremy person is really tall...he's, like, above six feet.
ReplyDeleteSix feet? whoa.
ReplyDeleteHaley is the one who has really bright hair right?
I would say that maybe Hayley is also Katie White and she doubles as both to become the ultimate idol but then again Katie's hair is white and Hayley's hair looks like she's bleeding. (in a cool way) and Katie has a british accent... and Hayley.... doesn't.
So maybe I won't say that Hayley is both. No I won't say that.
That was weird.
alrightie...although that was sorta confusing, it did make a little bit of sense. Hayley is the one who has bright hair. You're right, it does look like its bleeding (in a cool way) it also reminds me of fire...kind of.
ReplyDeleteOh yes - another reason why the Ting-Tings remind me of Paramore is because they both have interesting names. I think the Ting-Tings' name is because of you know, musical ting-ting. Maybe. I don't know. I can't figure out why Paramore's name is Paramore, though. I looked up paramour in the dictionary, and it means lover. How confusing.
ReplyDeleteOh. And I looked up para-nothing. Well, I know its more of something. Is there some type of musical thing called a para? Is there a foreign pastry called para? Is para the nickname of something? Was someone's pet named para and that pet inspired the band? Was para one of the band member's first word? ?????
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that it's a play on the word "paramour", lover.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hannah! That's really cool. Its interesting to think about.
ReplyDeleteWith the prefixes and all.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so think about "Para-mount." It means the very top, the biggest, the best... And para-graph is... The best and biggest way to write... ??? He-he... let's go with that...
ReplyDeleteOkay, I tried to do some research on line for "Para" and I came up with the most inappropriate thing that has ever come up in my research before, so I am extremely grossed out...
ReplyDeleteNINA!!! Yay! How are you? Please feel free to join! This is so exciting! I kept checking your post to see if you had posted more, but you posted HERE. Coooool!
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, Paramore (I believe paraMOUR is the word, while ParaMORE is the band, but it could very well be the other way around. Which is it, Cadence? I was going to ask that earlier but I guess I forgot...)
So you like Celtic music? Is it all religious like the one you posted the lyrics to on your blog? What are the subjects of the songs about mostly? Are they usually in English?
No I think you might be confused Amelia, Cadence said he was six-feet tall... and I was amazed and said SIX FEET? But he does not actually have six feet... because that would be weird.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm not understanding things because I thought that you thought that the guy actually had six feet but I see that you understand and I need no further. Bye. (Aw man I went further in my speaking)
ReplyDeleteHaha... Yeah. I kind of figured that he didn't have six feet. Cadence just meant that he had six TOES on each foot. Silly Maddy, you get so confused with things like this.
ReplyDeleteI mean, what kind of band would it be if NONE of the musicians had extra limbs? Jeez, no one would listen to it.
If you have six arms you play drums better, and if you have six fingers on each hand you play guitar better. And if you have six tongues you sing better...
Not really. I think if you had six tons you would choke and/or starve to death pretty quickly. They wouldn't fit. They would have to hang out of your mouth, and you would have to pant like a dog. A dog with six tongues, that is...
On the bright side, maybe your parents would let you eat nothing but popsicles, lollipops and ice cream, so that is a bonus.
What the HECK am I talking about?
Not music....
ReplyDeleteSORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY...
ReplyDeleteACK!
Tell me, tell me can you feel the pressure now?"
DO you like that one? Love life.
I believe that was one of Ghandi's principles: "Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever."
That is a really great message.
Another cool part of that song is "We don't need the headlines, no we don't need the headlines... We just want the airwaves back!"
Because they are musicians, and if they are famous they don't want papers written about them, they just want people to listen to them... If that makes any sense at all.
Hayley does some really weird stuff with her voice. All I know, is that it sounds AWESOMELY TUFF, and it is impossible to replicate. Like this one time she says break like "BRAY
ReplyDelete-EE-
AKE"
And it is really beautiful, but I have no idea how she does it. I didn't think it was possible to do that. I want to know how to do stuff like that! It is really, really cool!
Amelia,
ReplyDeleteOh my god i just thought you were a stranger. that was a bit scary. Anyways. yeah Hayley does do some weird stuff with her voice, but its cool. No offense to the Paramore band, but they're really, really creepy. There website is extremely creepy with the pictures and the videos and the etc.
Hi Nina! Glad to see you here! Do you like Celtic music?

ReplyDeleteParamore's become really popular all because of Twilight.
ReplyDeleteoh - i just looked up paramore on the web, and went to images. Hayley's hair has been a lot of colors - a yellowish blonde and the striking red. Interesting. Her hair really is like fire in the colors. I think she does that on purpose.
ReplyDeleteMia wants to dye her hair bright colors too. She says so. She says "That's not fair, I already HAVE dyed my hair bright colors!"
ReplyDeleteTrue...
Mia strives for purple hair, apparently.
When I asked the hairstylist at the CVS if they had red hair dye that washed out when you took a shower they gave me this really weird look, and then they were saying "Oh, your hair looks FINE sweetie, you don't have to dye your hair for it to look pretty!"
If you have ever been trapped in a CVS store for four straight hours while your father fills a prescription, you will understand that this is just one of the things that must be tolerated.
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting that Stephenie Meyer (John MAYER, Stephenie MEYER: always get those two spellings confused!) get's the ideas for her books from the music she listens to, I didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteHello... statement! (that wasn't supposed to be rude) C, Do you notice if Paramore's music is ever about a specific topic? Like some songs are all about love... is that what Paramore is like?
Also if Paramore was a brand of tape what would it be?
I am intrigued...
* :? <- he is intrigued too.
Paramore's songs are about using people.
ReplyDeleteAnd DISGUSTING PUTRID HORRIFYING similes about burrowing ticks. In flesh.
EEEEWWWW.
I don't really understand the rest of the words.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteum, well, actually, amelia, paramore's songs are about mostly about love - you are right maddy. Also some of the songs are, like, about the pressure or something that are on top of them, on their chest...anyways amelia you already mentioned that its sorta gross, the tick in flesh thing. I try not to listen to that if i can - I have listened to all her songs - i'm doing a sort of rerun.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Maricela must not have been choosing her Paramore songs for the lyrics, since she doesn't really understand the lyrics... I guess she just got some of the weird ones. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI really liked "Fences" when you played it yesterday, Cadence! You're right that Paramore doesn't sound like Evanescence, tho' they have the gothic vibe thing somewhat in common. Their sound reminds me a bit of Panic! at the Disco, but with female vocals. I'll need to check them out further at some point. Her hair is cool, I agree. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou can't buy super-bright funky hair color @ CVS, but they have it at specialty shops. Do some google searching; I know there are places in the city that have it, but I'm sure there's somewhere on the North Shore, too.
Hi Hannah,
ReplyDeleteThank you.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThis is for the overall reflection that you assigned today, Hannah.
ReplyDeleteI think Paramore is a wonderful experience. I'm glad I picked the band, even if the band is a bit scary - I certainly could have done without those pictures on the band's web site, but oh well. Paramore's really electrical. They have some kind of fire about them (no, not Hayley's hair) and it shows in their songs.
And fire is good - if you're not using it on somebody, something or yourself.
ReplyDeleteOh and here's the assingment for last week (sorry I forgot to post it) about sharing your music with someone else. I shared it with my mom. I played her the songs that I think she would like: Fences, Decode and Pressure. Here are ze opinons:
ReplyDeleteFences: zippy and soulless.
ReplyDeleteOh, I found out that classical music kinda calms me. I think one of the first classical songs I listened to was Fur Elise. It's a nice song.
ReplyDeleteoh and how i got into Debussy is from twilight, for people who have the twilight album. Clair De Lune. That's a nice song as well. Did anyone know that that was actually a book? I think it might be in the library. Anyways...yeah. I'm doing Debussy, if no one minds.
ReplyDeleteMaddy
ReplyDeleteI just realized that I never responded to your tape question. I don't have to think twice about that. They are orange/yellow/red duct tape.
Cadence, I loved reading your thoughts on your music! I think Debussy would be a spectacular next-Stretch for you. Do you know impressionistic paintings? Well, Debussy is an impressionistic musician; he was composing at the same time that Monet, etc, was painting. Cool, huh?
ReplyDeleteDear Hannah.
ReplyDeleteThat really is cool.
WOW.
ReplyDeleteI like Panic! at the Disco.
